Indian Embassy Launches Virtual Mentorship Series “MARG” for Students and Researchers
The Indian Embassy in Washington has recently introduced an innovative program named “MARG” (Mentoring for Academic Excellence and Research Guidance). This virtual mentoring series aims to facilitate connections between Indian students and researchers and leading universities in the United States. The program offers a valuable platform for participants to delve into advanced academic and research prospects.
MARG aims to narrow the educational divide between students in smaller Indian cities and prestigious universities in the United States by partnering with the Ministry of Education and the University Grants Commission of India. This initiative offers participants a unique opportunity to delve into the cutting-edge advancements in their respective fields of study and receive mentorship from industry experts. The program also provides guidance on career prospects, research avenues, and honing essential skills.
Key Highlights of MARG:
- Expert Guidance: Indian-origin faculty from prestigious institutions such as Stanford, Purdue, University of Maryland, and George Mason University will participate in the first round of mentoring.
- Focus on Emerging Technologies: The program highlights academic and research opportunities in critical and emerging fields like Semiconductors, AI & ML, Quantum Science, Bioengineering, Clean Energy, and Advanced Materials.
- Strengthening India-US Ties: The partnership aims to deepen academic and technology collaboration between India and the US, opening new doors for students and researchers in both countries.
Deputy Chief of Mission Ambassador Sripriya Ranganathan highlighted that India’s growing industrial and research ecosystem is well-suited to align with these emerging sectors, presenting extensive prospects for collaboration.
Additionally, leaders of Indian universities have conveyed their excitement, emphasizing that this endeavor will not only be advantageous for students but also for faculty engaged in pioneering research and skill development in India.
