Nova Scotia is all set to receive its allocation of study permits for international students from the Canadian government. This year, the allocation will be divided among the province’s universities, community and private career colleges, and language schools. In the past, some schools submitted an infinite number of applications, resulting in low success rates. However, with the new cap, around 292,000 permits will be allotted for undergraduate and postgraduate students in 2024, indicating a promising future. In order to address the issue of “unsustainable growth” in the international student program, the initial cap of around 360,000 was reduced by 35% over a period of two years.
