Exciting news! Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has just issued a whopping 1,490 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in an all-program/general Express Entry draw last week. This is a great opportunity for those who are looking to make Canada their new home and start an amazing new chapter in their lives.
On February 13, Canada issued over 1,400 ITAs to eligible candidates from all three Express Entry-managed programs with a minimum CRS score of 535. Express Entry is Canada’s immigration application management system used for three economic immigration programs. The variance in the cut-off CRS score used for each draw means that many candidates who did not receive an ITA from this draw are left wondering what would have made their profiles strong enough to receive an ITA from IRCC.
Eligibility for general Express Entry draws
It’s important to keep in mind that all Express Entry candidates must verify their eligibility before assessing the hypothetical Express Entry profiles below. You can find more information about the eligibility requirements for each Express Entry-managed program on dedicated webpages, such as
- Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
- Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
Candidates can only create an Express Entry profile and potentially receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Permanent Residency in Canada after verifying their eligibility for one of these programs.
Elena from Poland
Elena’s Express Entry profile had the following details when she entered the candidate pool at the age of 28: Post-secondary education of 3+ years, English proficiency score of 8, French proficiency score of 4, two years of full-time skilled work experience outside Canada, one year of full-time skilled work experience inside Canada, a job offer supported by LMIA, and a job offer for a minimum of one year. With a CRS score of 661, Elena received an ITA in the most recent IRCC all-program/general draw.
Joel from the United States of America
Joel’s profile made a strong impression on the Express Entry candidate pool. With six or more years of full-time skilled work experience outside Canada, he was an attractive candidate for Canadian permanent residency. His provincial nomination was an added bonus, and on February 13, IRCC granted him an ITA with an impressive CRS score of 919. Joel’s success story is a testament to how a well-crafted profile can open the doors to a brighter future in Canada.
Nadine from South Africa
Nadine, 24, entered the Express Entry candidate pool. She had a post-secondary credential of three or more years, two years of full-time skilled work experience outside of Canada, and a job offer supported by LMIA. With a CRS score of 543, she was issued an ITA from IRCC during their latest all-program draw.
