Provincial Immigration Updates: British Columbia, Manitoba, and Alberta Issue Invitations!

Exciting news for immigration hopefuls! This week, British Columbia and Manitoba have issued fresh invitations to candidates aiming for provincial nominations, while Alberta has released updates on its candidate pool for multiple streams of the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP).

🔹 British Columbia: Entrepreneur Invitations

On January 28, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) issued invitations through its Entrepreneur Immigration streams. These invitations were extended to foreign entrepreneurs looking to start a business in British Columbia.

  • Who got invited?
    • At least two invitations were issued under the Base and Regional Entrepreneur streams.
    • A minimum score of 123 was required for both streams.

Key factors influencing selection:

  • A candidate’s registration score.
  • The region and community size where the business is proposed.
  • Whether the business is a startup or an existing one.
  • Alignment with priority business sectors.

💡 Invitation rounds for the Regional Entrepreneur stream happen monthly, while the Base Entrepreneur stream has less frequent draws based on business and regional factors.

🔹 Manitoba: Skilled Worker & International Education Stream Draws

On February 6, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) conducted two draws targeting skilled workers and international graduates.

  • International Education Stream:
    • 59 invitations were issued.
    • Candidates needed at least four years of full-time work experience within the past five years.
    • Documentation proving work experience was required.
  • Skilled Worker Overseas Stream:
    • 17 invitations were issued under the “strategic recruitment initiative.”
    • A minimum score of 612 was required.

📌 Of the 76 total invitations, 18 went to candidates with a valid Express Entry profile.

🔹 Alberta: Updates on Candidate Pools

Alberta has released updates on the number of profiles in its Expression of Interest (EOI) pools across various immigration streams.

🔹 AAIP Candidate Pool Overview:

  • Alberta Opportunity Stream: 28,830 candidates
  • Dedicated Health Care Pathways: 1,026 candidates
  • Rural Renewal Stream: 3,029 candidates
  • Tourism & Hospitality Stream: 4,244 candidates

🔹 Alberta Express Entry Stream Breakdown:

  • Accelerated Tech Pathway: 2,403 candidates
  • Family Connection & Occupation in Demand: 2,206 candidates
  • Law Enforcement Pathway: 70 candidates
  • Priority Sector Draws & Other Initiatives: 2,802 candidates

📊 Total EOIs in Alberta’s selection pool: 44,610 candidates!
