Indonesia Opens Visa-Free Entry for Singapore PRs to Batam, Bintan & Karimun Islands
Indonesia has announced a new initiative to enhance its tourism and investment attractiveness. As part of this initiative, visa-free entry will be granted to Singapore permanent residents (PRs) visiting the islands of Batam, Bintan, and the Karimun Islands. The primary goal of this move is to stimulate economic development in these regional zones and to encourage a greater influx of both leisure and business travelers.
Under this new policy, Singapore PRs can now enjoy:
- Visa-free entry to select ports in the Riau region, covering Batam, Bintan, and the Karimun Islands.
- Stay duration of up to four days.
- A targeted focus on tourism and business, specifically for Singapore PRs, unlike the broader visa-free entry for ASEAN members.
Indonesia’s Director General of Immigration, Silmy Karim, has introduced a new initiative that grants visa-free entry to around 545,000 Singapore Permanent Residents (PRs). This policy will enable them to conveniently travel to various neighboring islands for leisure or business purposes. The visa-free access is applicable at specific entry points, simplifying travel to Indonesia’s major transportation hubs.
