Hospitality Innovation: Alberta’s 2024 Tourism Stream

Alberta

Great news! The Alberta Tourism and Hospitality Stream has just released the full eligibility criteria for permanent residency (PR). Now, you can finally know if you qualify and start planning your exciting future in Alberta’s booming tourism and hospitality industry!

This immigration stream accepts TEER 4 and 5 NOC occupations that are usually ineligible under other high-skilled immigration programs. Only CLB level 4 in English or French is required to qualify.

Eligibility criteria for the New Alberta Tourism and Hospitality Stream:

1. Educational requirement:

For this new stream, applicants need a minimum of high school education in Canada. If education was completed outside Canada, an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) is required. Tradespeople with an Alberta Qualification Certificate or a trade certificate recognized by Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) are also eligible.

2. Current Job

  • To be eligible for the AAIP, you must have a valid job in Alberta’s tourism and hospitality sector and hold a current work permit issued with a favourable LMIA.

3. Work experience

  • To apply, you must have worked full-time for at least six consecutive months or 780 hours in a qualified occupation in the tourism and hospitality industry. The experience must have been paid, with the same company you currently work for in Alberta, and approved by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada with a valid temporary residency status if completed in Alberta or Canada.

4. Job Offer Requirement

  • To be eligible for employment in an eligible occupation in Alberta, you need a legitimate full-time work offer or employment contract from an Albertan employer. The job offer must meet certain requirements, including full-time work with a minimum of 30 hours per week, employment for at least 12 months, and wages and benefits that meet or exceed the LMIA requirements or the lowest starting wage for your occupation in Alberta.
