Who can Apply for the Luxembourg Seasonal Work Visa?
  • Non-EU citizens with a valid passport.
  • Individuals who have a signed seasonal work contract for a job classified as a seasonal activity in Luxembourg.
  • Must apply for a Visa to enter the country.
  • A completed application form for a temporary authorization to stay.
  • Proof of sufficient financial resources to cover your stay in Luxembourg.
  • Proof of health insurance coverage for the duration of your stay.
  • Two passport-sized photographs.
  • A criminal record certificate from your home country (if applicable).
Seasonal Work Activities

The following are considered to be seasonal activities:

  • Harvesting (incl. grape harvesting, etc.)
  • Packaging of harvested products.
  • Leisure and holiday instructors and coordinators.
  • Holiday tour guides and tourist guides.
  • Surveillance and maintenance of beaches, outdoor swimming pools, and campsites.
  • Positions in retail stores, hotels, and restaurants which are only open at certain times of the year.
  • Jobs in companies involved in aviation and the transport of passengers have a regular and foreseeable increase in activity at certain times of the year.
Salary of a Seasonal Worker

The legal minimum wage in Luxembourg as of January 2024 for:

  • Unskilled Worker: 2,570.93 euro/month
  • Skilled Worker: 3,085.11 euro/month
Application Process for a Seasonal Worker (For Staying Less than 3 Months)

Foreigners who want to work in a seasonal job in Luxembourg for less than three months need a work permit.

  • Find a Job offer as a seasonal worker.
  • Your employer must obtain a certificate from the National Employment Agency (Agence pour le développement de l’emploi – ADEM).
  • Once the certificate has been obtained, the employee can sign a contract with an employer.
Application Process for a Seasonal Worker (For Staying Longer than 3 Months)

Third-country nationals who wish to live in Luxembourg for more than 3 months to work in a seasonal job, must follow a 2-step procedure:

                Before Entering the Country:
    • Apply for temporary authorization to stay. (The employer usually does this step).
    • Apply for a type D visa at the nearest embassy/consulate of Luxembourg in your home country

      After Entering the Country:
    • file a declaration of arrival within 3 days of arrival.
    • Go through Medical Checkup
    • Then apply for a residence permit for third-country national seasonal workers.

  • For Staying less than 3 months: You need a short stay visa (visa C)
  • For Staying Longer than 3 months: You need a long-stay visa (visa D)
